I’ve been trying to get a turbo 240 up and running for the past 2-3 years. Something always happened: gathered all parts for greenie/silvia 240sx, installed oil pan, ecu, etc - then had problems w/ car & later picked up Candy.

I’ve been gathering parts for Candy for the past year / year-and-a-half. Most parts have been sitting under my bed or in the tool shed. One of the biggest disadvantages of running a stock automatic 240sx, especially a convertible, is the lack of power. All the FR guys have been upgrading & tuning their turbo cars again. I’m motivated!

Hopefully, I can get the tapped oil pan, Nismo mounts, and other prep work for Candy done before the March Pro Solo.

I think Ankur’s more excited about this blog than I am. Earlier today, he let me in on a lil “beta” testing - Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company is sending out free samples for bloggers to drink and review. Genius idea.

I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but hey, why not!?! Just signed up, now waiting for my coffee to arrive. STAY TUNED!

Went out for dinner a couple nights ago to Denny’s (my favorite regular everyday eating restaurant evers!) with Donny and Lien.

Donny decided he wanted to try grits, but none of us really knew what it was. Lien had thought it was a type of hashbrown but prepared differently. I thought, okay, sure why not!

Turns out it’s a corn porridge type thing with almost no taste. I’m having regular porridge right now (rice with beef), so it reminded me of this. The guys didn’t care for it, so I ate it all, it was delicious! GRITTY!

We asked Cat & Dung what they thought grits were last night, and they also figured it would be a type of hashbrown.

WRONG! It’s corn people; if you didn’t know, then now you know.

So I bit the bullet and signed up for the March 29-30, 2008 Pro Solo, which is being held in El Toro. Lots of racers from all over the place are coming down. The National Solo Tour is held 2 weeks earlier in San Diego, then the Pro Solo occurs. After help from my fellow autocrossers on Solo2.com, I found my real class, EP (E Prepared) - I’m gonna get my ass handed to me, I just know it, regardless of class, haha.

For those who don’t know, the Pro Solo differs from a regular autocross with a “drag light” christmas tree start & 2 mirror courses, which 2 competitors run @ the same time, then loop around to the other side, line up, and run again. (more…)

So this past weekend, I attended the 2008 GReddy Performance Festival (Sale, Drift, Autocross). I didn’t check out the sale but participated in the autocross. Lots of NOOBS! There were a few SCCA guys there, who obviously kicked my ass, haha. However, I beat almost all of the newbies, WOO HOO!

I arrived at approximately 7:00am (15 minutes ahead of schedule) to wait near the front of the line for over 1.5 hours while the workers/organizers just said “are you racing? okay, hold on a minute.” There was a ridiculous amount of confusion from the workers - they spent half their time reordering cars, changing the lines, lining up car forum people (the line of 40 or so s2000’s *cough* non-paying *cough* which arrived significantly after I did but got in while I was waiting for god knows what near the front of the line comes to mind). I can totally understand that they may have been understaffed & everyone showed up at the same time… but they knew who is paying to be there & who were there for basically a meet (sure, there’s a sale where these guys “may” buy some stuff, but there are also people who have already paid to be there for a driving event).

The funniest thing must have been a driver who showed up in a bright red Yaris (more…)
