This is our 2nd event on Avon A15′s after basically “rebuilding” the car from an earlier accident late last year. We didn’t have video for our January event, but the Avons felt about as good as the Goodyear R160′s when they were new. We ran in the morning in 50-ish degree weather on January 1st group and used it as mostly a “shake-down” of the car.
For the February CSCC event at AAA Speedway, we ran in the 2nd run group in 80-ish degree weather with nearly back-to-back runs since the groups were small. The Avons didn’t overheat at all; no need to water them down in between runs. In fact, we could have used some more heat in them in our little G Prepared Sprite. The engine, however, was starting to run a bit hot.
Our PerformanceBox is currently down, so no data overlay.
Don only took 3 runs (our local championships give 4 runs) so we had more rest time for my last run. Thanks, Don!
Although I felt our raw time was very fast & I was happy with my run, we were still over a second off the lead in CPM (Combined Prep Mod) class behind 2 C Modified drivers & 2 Kart Modified drivers.
Here is Don’s 3rd run (not his fastest, but I didn’t realize that until I already uploaded the video & saw the results posted later) – 64.x:
Here is my last and fastest run (60.952):
