The Austin Healey reigns supreme! Well, of course there were only 2 cars & 3 drivers in our class, but the other Fiat Spyder has been coming along nicely as well, driven by John Edwards & built by Craig Way.

I won my first divisional this weekend, yay!

Car hasn’t changed much for the past few events; still learning the limits of the car.

In this particular Saturday run, I was trying to beat my 94.7xx; I tried a little too hard & ended up correcting a lot of little mistakes from overdriving certain sections. I still got faster (enough to be ahead of the competition), but not fast enough personally.

This run on Sunday felt fantastic. Definitely leaving plenty of time out on course, but that will change with more seat time & confidence in the car. This Austin Healey Sprite is coming along nicely; hopefully, I can make the driver faster in time for Nationals…

I attended an autox practice at El Toro on April 27, 2008. This event was for people who worked the Motorsport Z Driving School on April 26. Lots of us showed up – Ankur, Gar, Jimmy, Lily, etc.

Very fun day overall, & I finally got to drive my 240sx convertible at an autocross again after a couple months of waiting. This was also the first event I’ve done with Candy with a “tuned” Power FC. Felt much faster than before even though the tune was for a turbo car thanks to Lien from FRSport.

In any case, I remembered to take a couple quick shots – this was in the afternoon, so a lot of the cars have already left – only about 30-40 people to begin with.

I also had a chance to record in-car runs in Jimmy’s & Lily’s cars. Here’s the one from Jimmy’s Car (you can view the others by clicking the image above):

This reminds me, I need to get my car ready for the next event!

ProSolo This Weekend… G-Stock Here I Come!

Looks like Candy will be @ the body shop longer than expected. Dropped by yesterday and she just had her body work completed & was scheduled for sanding.

That being said, I will be taking the Sentra to go get my ass kicked at the El Toro Pro Solo (as opposed to taking my 240sx to go get my ass kicked, haha). The only mod on the Sentra is the 17″ rims w/ 235′s in front -> which would put me in STX…

My plan is to put the stock rims back on and slap 225/50R15 Hankook RS-2′s on the stock 15×6″ & compete in G Stock vs all the Mini Cooper’s, eeekkk! From the Entry list, looks like most, if not all, are running R-Compounds for the event.

So, I signed up for SCCA Pro Solo March event…

So I bit the bullet and signed up for the March 29-30, 2008 Pro Solo, which is being held in El Toro. Lots of racers from all over the place are coming down. The National Solo Tour is held 2 weeks earlier in San Diego, then the Pro Solo occurs. After help from my fellow autocrossers on Solo2.com, I found my real class, EP (E Prepared) – I’m gonna get my ass handed to me, I just know it, regardless of class, haha.

For those who don’t know, the Pro Solo differs from a regular autocross with a “drag light” christmas tree start & 2 mirror courses, which 2 competitors run @ the same time, then loop around to the other side, line up, and run again.

I’ve done a few local championships, which I’ve also placed pretty low, but this should be a great new learning experience. I’ll update as the event comes closer.
